Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes, this 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, 1923 Craftsman bungalow, the Sampson House, is less than a mile from downtown Penn Yan.
A formal dining room seats six. Overlooking the fenced backyard and neighboring horse pasture, the three-season enclosed back porch has a high-top table for casual dining, and seating for entertaining. Enjoy al fresco dining on the patio, with a gas grill and a propane fire pit table. The covered front porch is a perfect place to read, enjoy a gentle rain, or observe village life around Main St. There is a small half bath located on the main floor.
Upstairs the Primary Bedroom has a Queen size bed, Bedroom 2 has a Double bed, and Bedroom 3 has a Queen. The full bath is located on the second floor and has a tub/shower. There is a small home office upstairs as well, a quiet place to work away from home if necessary.
This stately home was designed by one of Penn Yan’s most prominent citizens of the early 20th century, Dr. Franklin Sampson, who was a medical doctor by trade. He was also a village trustee, and a member of the New York State Assembly. Interested in the arts and architecture, he drew plans and financed the historic Sampson Theater on Elm Street.

This beautiful house was perfect for our family of four. Everything is very well done (furniture, decorating, etc) and there is plenty of space. The kids loved eating in "The Snug", which was a cute breakfast nook between the kitchen and large dining room. The bedrooms worked out perfectly for us, and we really enjoyed spending time in the living room, sunroom, and front porch. Soo many windows providing natural light everywhere. We just stayed here and it was absolutely fantastic! Penn Yan is a cute town and there is so much to do in this beautiful area. We absolutely loved the house, perfect location, and will definitely make it our go-to stay place whenever we return! Very roomy house with well-decorated areas which are all cozy and comfortable. Beds have extra pillows and weighted blankets, great AC units in each room, and the neighborhood is quiet so we slept really well. Bathroom shower had great pressure with plenty of washcl
The house was the perfect location. Most of the guests were from the Southern Tier. But many of us traveled from CA. AZ. GA. FL, SC, VA. NYC, etc. Barring the guests staying at hotels, I think I had the best location. The home was warm and appealing, check-in/check-out was great. The hostess communicated on a regular basis and, as I said – CONVENIENT LOCATION. Within walking distance of great food and shopping. The venue was Crispin Hills which was about a 2 mile drive.
The power strips in the kitchen that were built in very unique and helpful. An icemaker in the freezer that had ice upon arrival excellent.
Our stay was wonderful. House was clean and had all the amenities you could want. Great location – walking distance to town. Short drive to many of the area's wineries and attractions. Would highly recommend.
Our stay this summer was wonderful. The house was immaculate and in a central location. We enjoyed visiting many lakes and eating amazing food. A big thank you to Ben who came to our rescue!
Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The house is very cozy and charming while still being very clean and comfortable. We loved the space on the back porch. It's in a great location, close to downtown Penn Yan and many, many wineries around Keuka and Seneca lakes. I would love to stay here again!
Beautiful and charming historic house, very clean, and tons of character. Had everything we needed, down to Beekman 1802 soap and shampoo and a sweet welcome box with coffee and local coupons. Centrally located in Finger Lakes region, and very quiet. Easy day trips to state parks, Watkins Glen, Hammondsport, Ithaca, Corning, Rochester, Seneca Falls etc. 10 out of 10. Excellent and quick booking process.
There were three couples and the house for us perfectly for the weekend. It was a nice walk to town and not to far from so nice wines on the Seneca wine trail. Joleen had good communication before going out and had straightforward instructions
Stayed the weekend for the Keuka Lake Triathlon. The home is absolutely gorgeous, and full of a lot of charm. The location was great, not too far away from the town center, and everything was very accessible. Despite being on "main street" the area is very quiet with limited thru traffic. The home is well stocked with all the necessities, quiet, and kid friendly. I would definitely stay here again for future races!
